Pikeville, KY (February 22,2023) - The Southeast Kentucky Chamber's Patton Leadership Institute visited Frankfort on February 2, 2023, for its monthly session, providing an opportunity for participants to learn about state government and engage with legislators.

Patton Leadership Institute is a program designed to develop and enhance the leadership skills of emerging and existing leaders in Southeast Kentucky. The program offers monthly sessions on various topics related to leadership, including community development, economic development, and government relations.

During the Frankfort session, participants had the opportunity to hear from state officials, including Kentucky State Treasurer Allison Ball, Jeff Noel, Secretary for the Cabinet for Economic Development, and Michon Lindstrom, director of communications for the Secretary of State Michael Adams. The class had the opportunity to engage in discussions on public policy and learn about the legislative process. The session included a tour of the Kentucky State Capitol, where they talked with Senator Phillip Wheeler about current legislative issues affecting the region.

“The Frankfort session was a great opportunity for our class to gain a better understanding of state government and how it impacts our region,” said Corey Stump, regional director for Childers Oil Company. “We are grateful to the legislators and officials who took the time to meet with our group.”

Patton Leadership Institute is a leadership development program of the Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. PLI is made up of leaders from across the Chamber’s eight-county region.
